The Willys Jeep: American Classic and Reliable Off Road
A good all-terrain vehicle does not have to cost more than your house. Many four wheelers like older models like the Willys Jeep. Parts for these classics are still easy to find it easy to keep running.
What is a Willys?
Although Willys is a name that brings a blank stare at the faces of many people, is one of the most recognizable vehicles out there: War Army jeep world. These robust and reliable artists remains one of the most popular vehicles of the Army for decades, serving not only American in Korea and Viet Nam, but the armies of other nations, even to this day.
The original model of MB was named a critical tool of War II General Eisenhower and historic interest International Mechanical Engineering by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
The 1970's saw a change in U.S. military policy towards personal and freight transport. They decided to go bigger and more advanced vehicles, so the venerable jeeps and trucks were replaced by the Humvee.
Although no longer used by the U.S. military, there is still a strong community of enthusiasts who keep his fight against Willys in shape. Even 30 years after retirement, there is no lack of Willys Jeep parts and supplies.
Cheap, durable and versatile
With the second World War looming on the horizon, the U.S. Army there were basically three specifications for its new personal vehicle. Had to be strong enough use to survive in combat. It had to be able to drive anywhere in the deserts to swamps. And it had to be cheap enough to feed an army.
The very characteristics that made the Jeep as a vehicle of the army are those which cause so dear today. It is not fantasy. Not pretty except to another Jeeper. But it is strong and never gives up.
Willys Jeeps were built in the days when all you need to repair your car was a screwdriver. When needs replacing Willys jeep parts, it does not take a genius to do it. Do not need expensive tools and computerized. Invest a little sweat and grease elbow and his Jeep is ready to roll again.
The off-road vehicle built for off-road
Most four-wheeled vehicles built today are designed to look pretty sitting in your driveway. They are status symbols more than the car accident, no matter what the TV ads that spot.
Willys Jeeps are all about function over form. It is not glorified minivans. These are the vehicles for people who want to go home covered with dust and mud. They're about adventure and exploration and genuine field experience.
Since no longer manufactured, it can be difficult to find one – and even harder to find one that is not obscenely expensive. Patience will be rewarded, especially if you are willing to buy a junker and replace some of the Willys Jeep parts thereof.
