What is the purpose and the legacy of the bow and arrow?
I am doing a school report and have chosen to make the bow and arrow, but not I can find nothing about the purpose and the legacy of the bow and arrow. Please help!
Archaeologists believe hunters used bows and arrows, as early as 50,000 years ago. The Indians used these weapons in all parts of the world except Australia. Besides hunting and warfare, bows and arrows were used to sport in ancient cultures of Egypt, China and India. Originally, the arcs of any elastic material such as bamboo and several kinds of wood, and bowstrings were made of animal guts. Native American and Asian officials arc independently made an important innovation when they reinforced the gun sticking animal tendons (tendon) in the back of the bow (the side facing the target). The compound bow (one of three or more layers of different substances) was invented by several cultures in Central, North and Southeast Asia 4,500 years ago. The technique involves strengthening the bow back up to three layers of tendons grated mixed with glue, and strengthening the face of the bow (the side facing the archer) with a glued on layer of animal horns. Northern Europeans used a method than to strengthen ties, at the beginning of the fourth century AD, were the union of a back of sapwood to a face of heartwood (dense wood taken from the life-essential not a tree). arrows, usually made of wood shafts, were tipped with arrowheads in wood, bone, horn, stone, bronze or steel (if any). In India, the arms manufacturers experimented with the iron and steel, and produces a metal arrow during the third century BC Although it is likely they made metal bows at that time, so it was not until the seventeenth century that steel bows truly became popular in India. Archery (with a bow to shoot arrows) was a dominant means of war (With arches rule, proving superior to mechanically assisted crossbows) until the late sixteenth century, when firearms became practical. Since then, hunting and target shooting have been developed as the main activities of archery. From 1929-1946, seven archers who were also scientists or engineers studied the behavior of materials and equipment designs using techniques such as high speed photography. They published their findings in various journals, and 1947, three of them edited a collection of these items, calling the book Archery: the technical aspect. These experimental and mathematical analysis of the dynamics arc laid the groundwork for the first major improvements in the design of archery equipment from the Middle Ages. Among the innovations that appeared after the Second World War, the use of new materials such as plastic and fiberglass, and modification of the bow section of grip to resemble a pistol grip.
